04.13.10

There are so many ways that God has been shown to us as our Saviour.  He saves us from ourselves time and again, he saves us from trouble all the time, and ultimately he has saved me from the deserving punishment of death because of my sin by gracing us with the work of Jesus, who meets all the requirements of God so that we don't have to.

Not only has he saved us, he continues to grace us again and again, blessing us even though we don't deserve it.  Well, he has definitely graced us again!

Eileen and I have spent some time in prayer, just trying to listen to the Lord about his future for our family, and we have decided to accept the referral from our adoption agency for a nine month old little boy.

Details:

  • Age: Currently 9 months old (born July 7, 2009 - my birthday is July 8)
  • Name:  currently Elsay (which means "God is my Saviour" - El = God, Say = Saviour)
  • Health: Being dropped off at the orphanage just a few weeks old, he was malnourished, but has since taken a liking to his food, and is definitely healthy and on track developmentally.
We'd love to be able to post some pictures but are unable to because of legal issues, totally understandable.  When we receive him formally, we can show pictures, or you can visit us with our little guy.  Let me just tell you that he is super cute and chunky.  I love it.  Just like his dad...just kidding!

So, God has certainly graced us, and given us a gift reminding us of the fact that God is my Saviour.  For the rest of our lives, we'll have a son to remind us of His grace and how he is our Saviour.

Thanks for your prayers.  Please pray, as the process is far from over.  Closer, but yet 2-3 months of waiting to be united with our son, and a lot of bureaucracy!

Awesome! We are thrilled for you guys and encouraged in our own waiting.

To answer your question from the comment on our blog, we found YWAM Ethiopia through a friend at church. We've known a handful of YWAMers and love the ministry but haven't been involved ourselves until now.

Glad to connect with you and be able to pray by name for each of you, including Elsay!
